The earliest known begonia-shaped censers were made of gold and silver during the Tang Dynasty. Porcelain versions of these burners first appeared during the Song Dynasty, and they eventually gained popularity and mass production during the Ming and Qing dynasties. This stove has mold molding, hand-carved repair for the mouth and ears, a large red pickled lacquer craft for the stove cover and stove seat, and an oval-shaped stove body full of work with pastel colors and an intricate pattern of entwined lotuses and peonies.
