The late Tang and Five Dynasties saw the introduction of the black glazed incense burner stove, which peaked in the Song and Two Song Dynasties. The entire furnace mold printing billet is followed by a hand-repaired billet and a meticulous carving that is distinguished by the three feet that stretch from the back of the spine to the furnace's body in short, dry, straight lines. The entire stove is coated with an imitation Gannan kiln system of sauce black glaze, which is fired at a high temperature using a weak reduction process. Black glaze, which is one of the three main colors of the Song Dynasty together with green and white, is fired through brown.
